Watch or tracker: what’s the difference

If you’re comparing custom watches with logo for a company campaign, a fitness tracker is light, has a small screen and a battery that lasts from a week to several weeks: it counts steps, tracks sleep and heart rate, and shows phone notifications. A smartwatch has a larger screen, often AMOLED, and adds functions such as built-in GPS, calls from your wrist or a voice assistant, in exchange for more frequent charging.

For a wide rollout in a wellness scheme, the tracker is the simplest option: comfortable, useful for anyone and with no need to charge it every day. For an award or a client gift, a watch with an AMOLED screen or metal case feels like a more premium gift.

What’s in the range

TypeWhat it tracks and what it doesTypical battery lifeWhere the logo goes

Battery life depends on screen use, GPS and notifications. Each product page shows the figure for that model.

What to check before you choose

  • Compatibility: make sure it works with the two main mobile operating systems, so it suits the whole team. The product page tells you.
  • Water resistance: IP67 handles rain, sweat and splashes; IP68 models or those with ATM water resistance cope with more water, and the product page says whether they are suitable for swimming.
  • Screen: AMOLED screens are easier to read in sunlight and have more vivid colours; the smaller screens on trackers use less battery.
  • Charging: nearly all charge with their own magnetic cable. If it gets lost, just any cable will not do, so it is worth mentioning this when you hand them out.
  • Strap: silicone or TPU straps are usually adjustable and fit most wrists, so you do not normally need to order sizes.

Health and personal data

The health readings on these watches and trackers (heart rate and, depending on the model, blood oxygen, pressure or temperature) are indicative and meant for everyday wellbeing, not for medical diagnosis. Present them that way when you give them as gifts, especially if they are part of a company wellness scheme.

Each person pairs the watch with their own phone and app, and the company does not receive that data. If you organise a team step challenge, each participant decides what they share.

What to give for each objective

Wellness scheme

Fitness trackers for the whole team, light and with battery life measured in days, and, if you organise it, a voluntary step challenge over a few weeks.

Award or recognition

A watch with an AMOLED screen or metal case for someone who has closed a project or had a strong year: it is worn every day and reminds them who gave it.

Client gift

A watch with calls or a voice assistant, with the logo placed discreetly on the strap clasp, where it does not compete with the design.

Branding, sample and delivery

Your logo is applied with laser engraving in a narrow area, only a few millimetres high: the strap clasp, the buckle or one side of the case; some models also allow pad printing. In areas like these, a short brand name or symbol reads best. The price on each product page includes branding in the standard position, and some models are supplied unbranded: the product page tells you.

Request a sample before production: it lets you test the app, the comfort of the strap and how easy the screen is to read. We prepare your mock-up with your logo free of charge and you pay when you approve it; the delivery time is indicated on each product page. As they contain a lithium battery, which travels under stricter transport rules, if you have a delivery date, tell us when you request a quote.

For a complete wellness scheme, pair them with custom sports accessories or custom sports bottles.

Our Selection Process

A bad cable shows in three weeks.

In promotional technology, the difference between a good gift and one that ends up in a drawer is the materials and certification. We work with manufacturers who declare real capacity, not just what's on the packaging, and who pass European electrical safety tests.

  • Measured capacity, not what's printed on the box
  • Up-to-date CE certification and safety tests
  • Braided cables that withstand the pull of a handbag

The Detail

Laser engraving lasts as long as the device.

On aluminium and technical plastic, laser doesn't fade or scratch. In technology, it's almost always the right technique.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Custom watches with logo, smartwatches and trackers

If yours is not here, write to us. People answer, not an automatic form.

What is the difference between a fitness tracker and a smartwatch?

A tracker is lighter, has a small screen and longer battery life, and focuses on steps, sleep and heart rate. A smartwatch has a larger screen and adds functions such as GPS, calls or a voice assistant, in exchange for more frequent charging.

Do custom smartwatches work with any phone?

They pair by Bluetooth with an app on the phone, and most work with the two main mobile operating systems. The product page for each model shows its compatibility.

Where is the logo engraved on a smartwatch?

On the strap clasp, on the buckle or on one side of the case, nearly always with laser engraving. These are narrow areas, so a short brand name or symbol works best.

Can you swim with a smartwatch given as a gift?

It depends on the model. IP67 protects against rain, sweat and splashes; some models with IP68 or ATM water resistance can be immersed, and the product page says whether they are suitable for swimming.

Are the health readings on a gift watch reliable?

They work as a reference for everyday wellbeing: steps, sleep or heart rate. They are not medical devices, so they should not be used for diagnosis.

Do you need to order sizes when giving smartwatches as gifts?

Normally not: silicone or TPU straps are adjustable and fit most wrists. If a model has a strap in a different size, the product page will say so.
