When the backpack is being handed out to lots of people, the key things are unit cost, low bulk and a clean front panel so the logo is easy to read. Foldable styles and simpler RPET or polyester logo backpacks work well here, usually printed with transfer on the front panel.
Avoid printing over a zip or a gusseted pocket: once filled, the logo can distort. If you also want the lightest option for a very large event, compare them with personalised drawstring bags before you decide.

When the backpack also represents your brand, it matters that it looks more like a retail backpack than just an event giveaway. Premium models usually pay more attention to fabric and finish, with recycled canvas, recycled PU or urban details where a discreet logo works especially well.
